Abstract: (2606 Views)
Chronic heart failure is the most common form of heart disease, especially in the elderly over 65 years of age, and the most common cause of their hospitalization. Also, the rate of readmission and the amount of treatment costs due to hospitalization in these patients are very high. Congestive heart failure (CHF) results in readmission to the hospital within 60 days of discharge. Evidence suggests that up to 1.3 hospitalizations due to CHF have not been compensated, which may be preventable. Self-care in heart failure indicates issues such as diet and medication, sodium and fluid restriction, amount of activity allowed, daily weight, follow-up and decision-making for appropriate treatment measures during severe illness. Heart failure patients need training and support in medication regimen, how to use Medications, diet, activities, identifying the symptoms of heart failure and worsening symptoms and taking appropriate action when symptoms occur. Patients with heart failure should be informed about the symptoms of the disease as well as the importance of following medication instructions and limiting water and salt intake. Improving self-care behaviors helps patients gain more control over their lives and cope with their social functioning. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of education on self-care in patients with chronic myocardial infarction.
