Abstract:   (1264 Views)
Biofilm as a major cause of infection recurrence as well as chronic infections in many diseases including chronic urinary tract infections, cystic fibrosis, gingivitis, recurrent tonsillitis, surgical wound infections, middle ear infections in children and also leading Unfortunately, biofilms are responsible for causing a variety of antibiotic resistance and causing major problems in the treatment of diseases. Bacterial film-forming bacteria create antibiotic resistance by creating an extracellular matrix, and also by evading immune system agents by this mechanism.
Enterococci are opportunistic bacteria that are resistant to a wide range of antibiotics and in some cases cause multiple resistance to antimicrobial agents and are important causes of nosocomial infections and also cause many diseases including Urinary tract infections, wound infections, skin and soft tissue infections, as well as bloodstream infections.Unfortunately, the increase in antibiotic resistance has led to impaired treatment of many diseases. Numerous experiments have shown that single cells (planktonic) are sensitive to antibiotics, but the formation of biofilms leads to resistance of these bacteria to antibiotics.
So far, the cause of this phenomenon has been considered to be the protection of extracellular matrix layers around bacteria, which prevents the penetration and spread of antimicrobial agents, and this has led to extensive research on biofilms and other mechanisms that destroy them.
However, various studies have now shown the role of persister cells in chronic infections, as well as the presence of these biofilm-resistant cells, suggesting that they may be the cause of these antibiotic tolerance in biofilms. These are the persisters, and the biofilm may play a lesser role. Finally, these studies can hypothesize that perhaps the main reason for the development of antibiotic tolerance in the biofilm of persister cells and the role of biofilm in antibiotic tolerance is ruled out.
Therefore, in this study, various methods will be used to examine persister cells in antibiotic-tolerant biofilms, so that perhaps the reason for antibiotic resistance in persister cell biofilms will be introduced.
