Purpose
The aim of this randomized controlled study was to determine and compare the effect of a 12 weeks RT period with 2 different periodization models on serum interleukin (IL)-
7, IL-15, insulin like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) and insulin levels and functional capacity.
Methods
Twenty eight untrained women 28-43 years with abdominal obesity (waist ˃80 cm) were randomly assigned to: linear periodization (LP, n=10), nonlinear periodization (NLP,
n=9) and control (CON, n=9) groups. LP and NLP performed RT protocols 3 days a week for 12 weeks. Blood samples were taken in fasted state before and three days
after the training period and were analyzed for the biochemical variables.
