Depression is a condition in which a person feels difficult and upset, disturbed and anxious, and finds life boring. A person with depression has conditions that isolate him or her and in severe cases may even lead to suicide. Many psychological studies clearly show that there is a significant relationship between depression and actions such as suicide. It is predicted that in 2020, depression will be the first disabling factor in human society. Major depressive disorder is one of the most important types of mood disorders and its incidence during life is 15% and may even reach 25% in women.
According to the latest information in the field of diagnostic methods to facilitate the identification of patients with depression, despite the many efforts that have been made in this field, there is no specific molecular method to diagnose this disease. Therefore, it seems necessary to use the diagnostic methods of molecular biochemistry, which has had great achievements so far. To this end, by fully embracing these methods, in addition to clarifying the molecular mechanisms of diseases, better, more accurate and more selective diagnostic and therapeutic solutions can be provided. The present study aims to evaluate the level of miR-135a in the blood samples of patients with depression and introduce it as a diagnostic target and then as a drug target. So far, there is not much evidence for molecular diagnosis of depression and it is necessary to introduce more diagnostic goals in this field for timely and efficient diagnosis.
