Osteoporosis is a silent epidemic of the present age. Numerous studies in Iran have reported the prevalence of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women in the range of 8-77%, but there is no general estimate. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of osteoporosis in Iranian postmenopausal women by meta-analysis. Methods: In this study, search using valid Persian and English keywords in domestic and foreign databases including: IranMedex, SID, Magiran, IranDoc, Medlib, ScienceDirect, Pubmed, Scopus, Cochrane, Embase, Web of Science, Medline and Google search engine. Scholar was performed using the keywords osteoporosis, menopause and Iran in both Persian and English and without time limit until 1396. Heterogeneity of studies was assessed using the I2 index. Data were analyzed using STATA software version 11.1.
